I am writing to provide an update to club members following an incident at Epsom Aquatic Centre, EGGS this afternoon that has been reported in the media. The incident involved a swimmer (not United) who had an incident whilst in the pool and required resuscitation. The swimmer was taken to hospital, and thankfully we understand they are doing well and will be kept in overnight as a precaution. All appropriate procedures were followed by staff that were poolside. Police were called as a routine in such events.
United coaches and swimmers were in attendance and assisted where they could. We understand this may have been a stressful event for swimmers and coaches to witness or hear about. We encourage you to talk with your swimmers about the event and please let us know if they would like to talk through this further with one of the United team.
We trust you understand why training had to be cancelled this afternoon.
