Hi United
Following on from a very successful “golden” competition year, we are pleased to share with our United Community some changes in squads and timetable for 2023.
All changes are designed to be positive and an extension of our existing offering.
The following is a summary of the main changes and how it will work:
- Revised squad names for all of our senior squads as follows:
| Current Squad Name | New Squad Name |
| Seniors | Platinum Performance |
| Gold | Platinum |
| – | Gold (New Squad) |
| SDT | SwimFit |
- A new squad will fill the gap in our current squad structure – the new squad will be called “Gold” as per the above chart. The squad will be coached by Coach Jamie and Coach Max
- We have completed a refresh of our squad structure diagram and squad descriptors as well as new descriptors for the new Gold squad. There is an additional line added to indicate expected future camp attendance for certain squads. See the following links to our United Website (link)
- Unless otherwise notified, your swimmer will remain in their current squad (although noting that Gold will now be known as Platinum)
- Coaches will approach swimmers who they think are currently meeting the requirements for the new Gold squad, and invite them into this squad. We do not expect the squad to be full initially but it will build up over the next term or two.
- Platinum Performance squad will deliberately operate in the future with a reduced number of swimmers. The squad timetable will not change however the number of lanes available for the squad will reduce in proportion to the reduced number of swimmers in the squad. The initial reduction in this squad will arise due to some senior swimmers leaving the club in the next 6 months or so (due to Universities, retirement etc.). Securing your place in this squad (as with all squads) will require ongoing commitment to the squad criteria.
Indicative Timetable Changes:
- An additional half an hour for Juniors squad on Monday morning
- An additional session for JDT on Friday afternoon (for competitive swimmers only)
- The new timetable for the ‘new’ Gold squad
The updated timetable for all squads is found at this link on our website
Fees are found at the following link
There are no significant changes alterations to fees, primarily we have updated the schedule for the Gold squad fees. As previously advised there will be an across the board fee increase in April 2023 to cover increased costs.
Our coaches and committee are very excited about the new changes and look forward to working with you all in 2023!
I will be releasing the January timetable over the next couple of days. The term 4 newsletter is also coming out very soon.
Best wishes for Christmas and Holidays and a reminder that the last day of swimming is Saturday 17th December
Best Regards
Kerry Lusby for United Committee
