United trains in both 25m and 50m pools and is therefore one of the few clubs that offers long course and short course training consistently throughout the year. The club’s two main venues are the 25m indoor heated pool at the Epsom Aquatic Centre and the 50m indoor heated pool at The Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre in Newmarket. In addition, United also uses the 25m indoor heated pool at Diocesan School for Girls.
The Epsom Aquatic Centre is based at Epsom Girls Grammar School (EGGS) located off Silver Road in Epsom. The pool is a modern 7 lane 25m indoor heated pool. United moved to The Epsom Aquatic Centre in 2012 and has a long term contract to use the pool each morning from Monday through to Saturday and each afternoon/evening from Monday through to Friday. WaterLions, the swim school operated by Igor and Larissa Polianski, is located at the same venue.
The 50m indoor heated pool is located at The Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre at 77 Broadway in Newmarket. Originally the Olympic Pool was opened in 1940 by the Newmarket Borough Council, and had the distinction of being NZ’s first 50m swimming pool. In 1950 it was the venue for the Empire Games, and in 1957 produced the first world swimming record for a New Zealander when Philippa Gould broke the record for the 200 metre backstroke. United uses the pool each evening from Monday through to Friday pursuant to an arrangement with The Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre and Hilton Brown Swim School.
